TORONTO – The brass signs that adorned Hudson’s Bay’s Toronto flagship location are up for sale.
Heffel Fine Art Auction House has listed eight of the signs from the Queen Street building in an online auction running until April 21.
All of the signs feature the company’s name, its coat of arms and a line mentioning the business was incorporated on May 2, 1670.
Each has an estimated value between $1,000 and $1,500, but they are likely to sell for far more. One of the same signs from the building was bought for $55,250 in February.
Heffel has been auctioning off HBC’s 4,400 pieces of art and artifacts since last year, when the department store filed for creditor protection and shuttered all of its locations.
The HBC signs currently up for auction are on sale alongside stuffed animals, vintage clothing and First Nation and Inuit art.
