The
death of a person found injured in a Perth park
is now being investigated as a homicide.
In an initial news release, the Ontario Provincial Police had labelled the death as suspicious, but in an update on social media on Tuesday, April 14, they said a homicide investigation was underway.
On Sunday, April 12, at 3:15 p.m., OPP officers responded to Last Duel Park, where the injured person was found with life-threatening injuries. The individual was taken to a trauma centre and later pronounced dead.
In Tuesday’s update, police said they believe it was a targeted incident, “with no signs of a broader threat”.
There is no longer a heavy police presence in the area and the park has reopened, they said.
The investigation by the Lanark County OPP detachment was continuing.
Anyone with any information regarding this investigation was asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Those who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
