One dead, one seriously injured in Barrhaven homicide

Ottawa Police Service said Friday a person is in custody in connection with a homicide in Barrhaven late Thursday night.

Paramedics were called to the 500 block of Ashbourne Crescent at about 10 p.m. on Thursday, according to Ottawa Paramedics Service spokesman Marc-Antoine Deschamps.

Responders found an adult woman with traumatic injuries who was declared deceased at the scene, Deschamps said.

An “elderly” woman was also found with traumatic injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The scene is near the intersection of Cambrian Road and Longfields Drive.

“One person is deceased and one subject is in police custody,” police said in the release.

Police said there was was no risk to public safety.
