First responders in Gatineau confirm two people were found dead in a burning building in the downtown area early Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to the the 16-storey building at the north end of Laurier Street at about 2 a.m.
According to reports, the fire was in a fourth-floor unit.
A total of about three dozen people were forced from their homes.
The fire is under control.
Gatineau police have taken control of the investigation.
