An Ottawa-area driver was nailed Friday trying to sneak through a “high occupancy vehicle” lane on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.
As Ontario Provincial Police Const. Michael Fathi noted on social media: “If you plan to drive alone in the … (HOV) lane, it’s probably not a good idea to drive at speeds that attract attention!”
The driver was caught doing 156km/h.
The driver had his licence suspended for 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
He now faces a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
