Barrier needed on Vancouver bridge after another suicide death, advocates say

VANCOUVER – The lack of suicide-prevention barriers on Vancouver’s Granville Street Bridge is “inexcusable” after a woman fell to her death Wednesday, those pushing for the measures say. 

Vancouver police have confirmed that the woman was reportedly “suffering a mental health episode” on the bridge Tuesday, and she eventually fell from the scaffolding early Wednesday morning even as negotiators tried to help her.
