Guillermo del Toro honoured at Canadian Film Centre gala

On April 10, the Canadian Film Centre held its annual fundraising gala at the Ritz-Carlton. With the theme “Roots,” the CFC welcomed nearly 370 guests, including Eric McCormack, who opened the show with a lively rendition of “If I Had a Million Dollars,” joined on stage by Ed Robertson and Tyler Stewart of Barenaked Ladies. Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro was on hand to receive the 2026 Norman Jewison Founder’s Council Award, delivering heartfelt remarks celebrating his love of film, television and Toronto.
