We’re inviting you to ask Star journalists questions about their months-long investigation into the use of strong-mayor powers across Ontario.
In 2022, Doug Ford’s government passed a law that allowed Ontario mayors to have more power. The law, the Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act, was billed as a remedy to tackle the housing crisis.
But are mayors using them for their intended purpose? And if not, what is actually being done with them?
As mayoral hopefuls begin to declare their candidacies for the elections that will be held provincewide this fall, Star reporters David Rider and Kate Allen will break down their comprehensive analysis of the Act.
Join First Up host Ed Keenan at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 as he asks Rider and Allen about their findings in the comments section below.
