As the summer nears and temperatures steadily rise, Ottawa residents can soon head to two new swimming docks along the Ottawa River, says the National Capital Commission .

The commission says that those looking to cool off can take a dip on the Quebec side behind the Canadian Museum of History, or on the Ontario side, attached to the East Wharf platform near the canal locks, a news release from June 3 says.

“With more than one million visits recorded last summer at flagship NCC waterfront sites, interest in these shared public spaces continues to grow,” says the release.

Last June, the NCC opened an unsupervised dock at Dow’s Lake in Commissioner’s Park for swimmers.

The update doesn’t specify whether these new areas will be supervised, but it says there will be more information on the NCC’s social media and website.

The NCC plans to open up two new swimming docks on the Ottawa River this summer. The one seen here in this rendering will be on the Ottawa side of the river at the East Wharf near the Rideau Canal Locks.
