Man charged with murder one year after victim’s body found

Provincial police have charged a Quebec man with murder in connection with the homicide of a Clarence-Rockland man more than a year ago.

The victim, Robert Pr é vost, 63, was reported missing in March 2025 after being last seen at his Laurier Street home in early February.

His body was found in the Ottawa River in May, 2025, and police declared the death to be the result of homicide.

On Thursday, Luc D écarie , 51, of St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que., was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy and indignity to a body.

D écarie was to appear at the Ontario court of justice in L’Orignal on Friday.

Police have released no further details on the case.
