Company calling on Canadian government to keep Asterix resupply ship

The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) originally had three replenishment ships of its own, but those were taken out of service because of old age and, in the case of one vessel, damage from an onboard fire. The navy had initially counted on using the Joint Support Ships being built on the west coast to replace the aging vessels, but extensive delays and cost overruns in that project hindered the initiative.
