A joint statement issued by Ottawa Inner City Health and the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre says that this decision will increase preventable overdose injury and death and that the loss of these services will place a greater strain on emergency and health services. “This sudden decision is deeply concerning,” wrote Rob Boyd, the CEO of Ottawa Inner City Health, and Robin McAndrew, the executive director at Sandy Hill. “Health-care workers have been on the front line of the toxic drug crisis and affordable housing crisis for years, providing care, creating connections, preventing overdoses, mitigating public safety issues, and saving thousands of lives in Ottawa.”
