Unexplained damages to O-Train overhead power line overnight are causing disruptions to transit service, Transpo reported Friday.
“Damage was discovered on the overhead catenary wires east of uOttawa Station during an overnight inspection. As a result, trains will need to bypass the section on one track,” said Transit Services associate general manager Troy Charter in an email message.
Service is running on Line 1 between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations, but trains are limited to using westbound platforms at uOttawa, Lees, and Hurdman stations.
“Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) teams are onsite to assess the damage and determine a repair and service restoration plan.”
Charter says Line 1 service is operating every eight minutes.
He added that E1 bus service is being enhanced from Blair to downtown with more buses, and R1 bus service will be available from Tunney’s Pasture to Rideau station to supplement Line 1 during the morning peak.
“Staff will be at stations throughout the day to assist customers,” said Charter.
Customers are asked to check social media sources, texts, web updates for continued information.
There is no immediate estimate on repairs.
