Ottawa firefighters battled for more than an hour Monday evening to bring a house fire under control in Kinburn.

Ottawa Fire Services took multiple 911 calls about the fire at 5:44 p.m. on July 6, with reports stating that flames were coming from the attached garage of a single-family home in the 1800 block of Diamondview Road.

After crews reached the scene, they reported that the fire had spread from the garage to the two-storey house. The structure was “fully involved”, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house.

Residents met the firefighters outside the home and let them know that everyone had exited the building safely and that all pets had been located.

Propane tanks on one side of the home presented an additional hazard, and an aerial ladder was also used to attack the flames from above, fire services said in a social media post Tuesday.

The fire was declared under control at 6:59 p.m.

Seven residents were displaced as a result of the fire, and Victim Services was sent to the location to assist them. A OFS investigator also attended the scene to find out the cause and origin of the fire.
