Ontario Provincial Police confirm a 56-year-old Carleton Place woman has died after she was struck by a car after she left her damaged vehicle on Highway 401 near Kingston Wednesday night.
Initial investigation indicates the woman’s car struck a concrete median in the centre of the highway at about 7 p.m.
Following that, the victim apparently attempted to cross to the shoulder of the highway.
Highway 401 westbound was closed for several hours for the investigation.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
