A would-be social media daredevil faces a list of charges including dangerous driving and fleeing police after repeatedly pulling “wheelies” on his motorcycle next to police cars to provoke pursuit and draw web hits.

Gatineau police said in a release that on June 24, the man drove a motorcycle without licence plates alongside a police cruiser “before performing a high-speed wheelie.”

There was no arrest at the time, but a follow-up probe turned up a number of social media videos by the rider showing off similar stunts in Gatineau and West Quebec.

“The videos were subsequently posted on a popular social media platform specializing in video sharing,” police said in the release.

Police say the investigation allowed police to identify the driver, and link “similar incidents” that occurred in the Sûreté du Québec territory.

Police said Meagel Lannigan-Joly, 24, of Papineau district east of Gatineau, was due to appear in court Thursday on charges of dangerous driving and flight from police.
