An officer with Ottawa’s road safety unit was patrolling the south end in an unmarked cruiser on Saturday around 7 p.m. — and came to a stop behind a vehicle at a traffic light at Riverside Drive and Hunt Club Road. When the light turned green, the vehicle accelerated northbound on Riverside Drive and allegedly reached a speed of 172 km/h in the posted 60-zone.
