Gatineau police ask for public’s help after young man seriously injured

Gatineau police are asking for assistance from the public as they investigate after a man in his 20s was seriously injured in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 1.

According to police, an altercation possibly took place at about 3 a.m. near the intersection of Laval and Wellington streets in the Hull sector.

Police were called to the location after a report of an unconscious man who was bleeding from the head. When arriving at the scene, they found a semi-conscious person with apparent injuries, police said in a news release Aug. 4.

He was quickly transported to hospital, where his condition was deemed to be stable, but the victim’s health later “deteriorated”, the release stated.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the Gatineau police information line at 819-243-4636, option 5, even if a meeting has already taken place with police officers present on the scene.
