A 14-year-old boy who was riding a bike suffered serious injuries after being involved in a collision with the driver of a pickup truck in Whitby.

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) say the collision happened just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Garden Street and Manning Road.

The 14-year-old was riding his bike southbound within the crosswalk when he was struck by the driver of a pickup truck making a right turn. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 40-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police said.

Authorities are still working to determine the circumstances of the collision, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DRPS.
