Doly Begum’s departure from Queen’s Park triggered the upcoming Scarborough Southwest byelection, but she could still help swing it even though she’s now serving in Ottawa.

Begum — the popular former NDP MPP who made national headlines when she defected to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberals, winning a landslide in an April federal byelection — is looming large in the Sept. 3 provincial vote.
