TORONTO – Canada’s main stock index moved higher in late-morning trading, helped by gains in energy stocks, while U.S. markets were flat.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 62 points at 36,443.23.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.46 points at 54,036.47. The S&P 500 index was up 5.38 points at 7,763.02, while the Nasdaq composite was down 54 points at 26,636.61.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.77 cents US compared with 71.72 cents US on Friday.
The September crude oil contract was up US$2.69 at US$80.87 per barrel.
The December gold contract was up US$6.40 at US$4,406.10 an ounce.
