Trump and referendum talk to mark a tough-to-predict Quebec election, analysts say

MONTRÉAL – Four years ago, François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec party was so far in the lead at the start of the provincial election campaign that the only debate was who would finish second.

The outcome is far less certain this time around, as a new campaign begins with a slate of new leaders facing serious issues including resurgent referendum conversations and U.S. trade threats.
