Live Nation says it is assessing “significant damage” to Roger Stadium caused by destructive winds from Tuesday’s severe thunderstorm.
Photos circulating on social media of the concert venue showed that at least one section of the stands had been torn apart, with its blue seats flipped over and fencing strewn around the area. It appeared the wind had pushed a portion of the scaffolding into the bowl of the stadium.
The images were similar to chopper footage captured by CP24 on Wednesday morning.
“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage and will provide further information as it becomes available,” Live Nation said in a statement on Tuesday night.
“As always, the safety of our employees and on-site contractors is our top priority. Fortunately, no one was injured during today’s extreme weather event.”
A representative for the company did not have any further updates on Wednesday morning.
The damage is the latest setback for the troubled venue, which has faced criticism from concertgoers and local residents since it opened last summer. Noise complaints, traffic gridlock, and crowd bottlenecks plagued its first year of operation, though some improvements were made when it reopened earlier this spring.
The latest damage raises serious questions about whether Rogers Stadium can finish off its 2026 concert calendar. The venue was scheduled to host Australian rock band AC/DC on Sept. 16 to close out the season.
