A man in his 20s was killed and another man in his 30s was seriously injured after a fiery, head-on crash on Fallowfield Road overnight Wednesday.
One of the vehicles caught fire and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps.
The second driver was taken to hospital in serious condition.
“The driver of one of the vehicles, an adult male, sustained very serious injuries,” Deschamps said. “He was stabilized by paramedics on scene and during his transfer to the hospital, where he was in critical condition, but his injuries are not life-threatening.”
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Fallowfield Road, just west of Old Richmond Road, at about 12:40 a.m., police said.
Police asked any witnesses or anyone with video of the collision to contact the Ottawa Police Service fatal collision investigation unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345.
Fallowfield Road was closed Wednesday morning between Old Richmond and Eagleson roads while police investigated the collision.
