A teenage boy has died after he was shot in North York on Monday afternoon.
Toronto police were called to Jane Street and Finch Avenue West just after 3:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
Officers located the victim, a teenage boy, who was transported to a hospital, and later pronounced deceased.
Speaking to reporters, Insp. Dan Pravica says the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit has taken over the investigation.
Pravica says officers located a skateboard but it is not yet known if it belongs to the victim or a bystander who fled the scene.
Investigators have not released any suspect description.
Also speaking to reporters at the scene was Supt. Jack Gurr who says it is a “very, very sad day.”
“For the person who did this, get a lawyer, and turn yourself in,” he said.

Roads reopen, Line 6 Finch West service resumes
The eastbound lanes on Finch Avenue West at Elana Drive have reopened after they were closed on Monday.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) says Line 6 Finch West Regular service has resumed between Norfinch Oakdale and Driftwood stations.
