On Sept. 9, the Omni King Edward Hotel was the setting for Longines’ third annual “Time to Watch Us Fly” event celebrating Canadian women in film and television. The Kit (owned by Torstar, publisher of the Toronto Star) presented its New Gen Award to Nyla Innuksuk, an Inuk filmmaker premiering “In the Heart of the South” at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Nadine Bhabha, who plays Elena in “Heated Rivalry.” Longines is a supporter of TIFF’s Share Her Journey initiative, dedicated to promoting gender parity for women in the industry.
