Murder charge laid in death of Augusta Township woman

A 50-year-old man from Agusta Township is facing second-degree murder and other charges in the July death of a 79-year-old woman .

David Collison is facing six charges, second degree murder, indignity to a dead body, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition order.

Police also identified the victim as 79-year-old Donna Lowry. Ontario Provincal Police found Lowry dead in a home on County Road 26 in Augusta Township shortly before 3:30 p.m. on July 8.

The OPP deemed the death a homicide, and charged 40-year-old Alison Doherty from the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands with indignity to a dead body as part of the investigation , on Sept. 15.

The OPP say the accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23 in Brockville.

“We are grateful that we can provide answers to Donna’s family and hold people accountable for their involvement in her death,” OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) detective inspector Jocelyn Sauve said in a social media post following the arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing.

County Road 26 runs through the southern portion of Augusta Township, which is located about 80 kilometres south of Ottawa.
