After four days of special advance voting , 27,553 voters have already cast their ballots in Ottawa’s municipal election.
The early turnout marks a 46 per cent increase from special advance voting numbers in 2022 , when 18,876 voters cast their ballots over the four-day period. It’s also a 76 per cent increase from 2018, when 15,703 people participated in special advance voting.
Sunday was the busiest voting day with 8,086 votes cast, according to Elections Ottawa. A total of 6,724 people voted on Thursday, 6,854 voted on Friday and 5,889 voted on Saturday.
Voters were able to cast their ballots at any of the 10 designated locations across the city during special advance voting. François Dupuis Recreation Centre in the city’s east end was the city’s busiest special advance voting location, with 4,238 votes cast across the four days.

For those who haven’t yet cast their ballot, the next opportunity will be on advance voting day on Oct. 16, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Unlike during special advance voting, electors are directed to vote at their assigned voting place within their ward. Those locations can be found on the mailed voter notification letter or on the city’s website.
