Another 59,039 voters cast their ballots on the Oct. 16 advance voting day for Ottawa’s municipal election.
Including the four special advance voting days held between Oct. 1 and 4, that meant a total of 86,592 voters cast an early ballot ahead of Ottawa’s election day on Oct. 26.
This year’s early voter turnout marked an 8.9 per cent increase compared to the 2022 municipal election, when 79,491 voters cast an early ballot across the four special advance voting days and the two advance voting days.
This year, voters had one less day to cast an early ballot with only one advance voting day. In 2022, advance voting was spread across two days.
Bay ward had the highest advance voter turnout last Friday with 4,215 votes cast. Meanwhile, Barrhaven East had the lowest advance voter turnout with 1,401 votes, according to Elections Ottawa.
