The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a death in South Stormont Township on Friday.
An Oct. 24 release from the OPP said officers were called to a residence on Wheeler Road, where an individual with serious injuries was located shortly before 6:30 p.m. That individual, who was not identified by police, was subsequently pronounced dead in a hospital.
Preliminary information suggested this was “an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat,” the OPP said.
The news release said the OPP investigation was being conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, adding that residents of the area could expect to see an increased police presence as officers continued the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation was asked to contact the SD&G OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
South Stormont Township is about 90 kilometres southeast of Ottawa.
