Ottawa voters went to the polls on Oct. 26 to pick a mayor and 22 councillors. Results came in from 824 polls across the city. Early voters cast more than 86,000 ballots, up nearly nine per cent from 2022. Overall turnout fell to 36.21 per cent, the lowest in Ottawa since 2003.
The following charts break down the mayoral vote by candidate and map the council results by ward. Mayor Mark Sutcliffe won 20 of 24 wards on the strength of rural and suburban support. Challenger Jeff Leiper drew his strongest support from the inner city. Councillors Riley Brockington and David Brown faced no opponent and won their seats by acclamation. Three newcomers joined council, all of them women. Women hold 13 of 24 council seats.
A Quorus poll from the final week of the campaign showed Sutcliffe’s lead over Leiper had fallen to seven points from 29 in June. The final count tracked closely with the poll, with Sutcliffe at 44.65 per cent to Leiper’s 33.9 per cent.
Results posted on election night were unofficial. Ottawa’s city clerk checked the count before declaring the results official on Oct. 30.
