The Kit’s third annual Women in Film event, held at the Park Hyatt Toronto and hosted by Etalk’s Sonia Mangat, brought together filmmakers, actors, writers, producers and more. It included a discussion moderated by The Kit’s editor-in-chief Laura deCarufel and a panel of Canadian women in film: Sook-Yin Lee, Jennifer Podemski, Ann Marie Fleming and Andria Wilson Mirza. The Kit also awarded the first annual The Kit Next Gen Women in Film Award to Sasha Leigh Henry, a writer, producer and director whose Crave show, “Bria Mack Gets a Life,” won best comedy series at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards. She’s currently at work on her first feature.
