First Nations designers own the runway

“I know one of the designers, we come from the same community … it’s super good for her, and it’s super good for visibility and everything,” said Leticia Bacon, who came out to support her sister Elisa Bacon, an Innu model based in Montreal. 

The collective also held a popup market and workshops that touched on issues such as appreciation versus cultural appropriation, reconciliation through fashion, and the socio-economic impact of buying authentic Indigenous products.

“We are a collective of Indigenous people of Quebec, but there’s also so much beauty in all of our different nations. We’re not all the same, but it’s a really beautiful thing for us to all come together,” said Diabo.
