A Toronto man has died in a collision caused by a wheel that became detached and struck a vehicle.
The crash was first reported by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) just after 2:30 p.m. at Townline Road Wednesday.
Investigators have confirmed that the collision was caused by a wheel becoming detached from a van in the westbound lanes which struck the SUV in the eastbound lanes.
The person who died is a 39-year-old from Toronto. It’s unknown if anyone else was injured.
All lanes of the 401 eastbound were closed for several hours in Cambridge, but have since reopened.
