Is there anything more Toronto than Drake, sporting a Raptors championship ring and OVO hoodie, rolling through Scarborough Town Centre?
The mall is the set of the rapper’s music video for his latest single “No Face,” which came out earlier this year.
While only over a minute long, the black-and-white video takes place entirely at the mall, starting with Drake and his crew pulling up outside before heading in and driving through the empty mall in ATVs and a black Cadillac Escalade. The rapper can also be seen performing in an open area of the mall near the Scarborough Walk of Fame on the ground floor.
According to a Scarborough Town Centre (STC) spokesperson, the video was shot overnight while the mall was closed to the public. It was also developed and initiated by OVO, Drake’s lifestyle brand and record label known as October’s Very Own. A seasonal pop-up for the lifestyle side of the business opened in the Scarborough mall in August of this year — although the storefront was not featured in the video.
This is the second time Drake has featured a Toronto mall in one of his music videos around the opening of an OVO outlet. Back in August 2017, the rapper filmed another one-minute-long video for his song “Gyalchester” at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, which also included an Escalade driving through the mall and served as an announcement for the store’s opening.
