Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford insists Ontario is not vulnerable during a snap election campaign he called as a possible trade war with the United States looms.
Ford called the Feb. 27 election this past week, and says he can act as both premier and his party’s chief campaigner at the same time.
He says he has an economic action plan ready to go if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on his threat to impose 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods.
Part of that plan includes a $22-billion stimulus package to build infrastructure, which Ford says would go ahead regardless of Trump’s moves.
Both NDP Leader Marit Stiles and Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie are campaigning in Toronto today, with Crombie expected to discuss her health care pledges.
Meanwhile, Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner will be door-knocking in Kitchener, Ont., and supporting his deputy leader’s re-election campaign.
