Pick of the week
Eyes on the Prize III: We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest
Henry Hampton’s PBS series “Eyes on the Prize” won a slew of Peabody and Emmy awards and even snagged an Oscar nomination for its sweeping documentation of the 20th-century civil-rights movement. Now the series is back to cover more decades of Black resistance, from 1977 through 2015.
Episodes will cover Reaganomics-era fair housing and health-care activism, public defenders’ trials in the criminal-justice system, the Million Man March, the fight for environmental justice, affirmative action, Obama’s election as the first Black U.S. president and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement. Stream it Tuesday on Crave.
