In today’s episode of Why Are The Racists Still So Angry, it’s apparent that no matter how far this country drifts into making white supremacy great again, there’s still no shortage of angry, disgruntled white men who are looking for a fight (or a lynching) wherever they can find one.
Earlier this month, on Feb. 15, 36-year-old Wilfred Francis Hutson IV was arrested in Walker, Michigan, after he hurled racial slurs at a Black man who was sitting in his car, followed the Black man after he drove off, and then physically attacked him — all because he thought the Black man was staring at him.
Hutson was arrested and charged with felony ethnic intimidation, a charge that is rarely filed in Kent County, according to prosecutor Chris Becker, who told MLive Hutson is only the third person to receive such a charge since 2023.
But, booooy, did this crazy white man earn it.
From MLive:
The incident unfolded shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in the 1300 block of Barbara Street NW.
The Black man was visiting a friend and sitting in his vehicle when Hutson, who is white, accused him of staring at him, Walker police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.
Hutson chased the man as he drove away, police said. When the man stopped his car and got out, Hutson ran at him and physically attacked him, according to the affidavit.
While speaking with officers, Hutson allegedly continued to use racial slurs when referring to the man. Police say he also made comments that he was going to shoot the neighbors if they entered his yard and set their house on fire, according to the affidavit.
It’s always interesting when a loud and proud racist feels so comfortable around police officers that he doesn’t even bother to drop the Klan behavior long enough to recall his version of events. In this case, Hutson not only proved to be the racist he’s accused of being, but he even went out of his way to tell officers of the law that he was ready and willing to inflict deadly violence against his neighbors. It’s almost as if this raging white supremacist got around cops and decided he was among birds of a feather.
And, if that’s the case, maybe there’s something to Hutson’s comfort with law enforcement, considering that, despite the violence he was already accused of and the violence he threatened, he’s still getting off light.
More from MLive:
Hutson appeared Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Walker District Court for a probable cause conference. He accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to attempted ethnic intimidation.
In exchange, prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor assault and battery charge. He is set to appear in court again March 12 for sentencing.
Maybe this is why white supremacist extremism continues to be America’s biggest domestic terrorism threat. This nation is simply engineered not to take it seriously enough.
