Attempted robbery suspect sought by Ottawa police

The Ottawa Police Service is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect in an attempted robbery at a business on Montreal Road on Tuesday.

A news release Friday said the suspect entered the store at about 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 9, threatened staff and demanded narcotics. When staff responded that police had been called, the man left empty-handed, police added.

There were no reported injuries.

The release described the suspect as a White man with a slim build, approximately five feet 10 inches (178 centimetres) tall. He was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, a grey baseball hat and black running shoes and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information about his identity or details related to the incident was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116.
