A driver has been charged following a near-collision with a child in a stroller on Thursday morning in Kanata, according to Ottawa police.
Police say officers responded to reports of a collision shortly after 9 a.m. on Bridgestone Drive, just off Eagleson Road.
Paramedics were also called to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. and said the adult operating the stroller was able to move out of the way to avoid a collision with a vehicle, but the stroller tipped over in the process.
The child in the stroller, who paramedics said is less than one year old, “sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital in stable condition,” according to paramedics spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps.

The area where the collision took place, near Maurice Lapointe Elementary School, was previously home to a photo radar camera. However, it’s no longer operational following the
provincial ban on speed cameras
.
“The driver has been charged with Highway Traffic Act violations,” police wrote in a statement. The exact charges were not disclosed.
