Bo Bichette got married on the first weekend of January — and many of the free agent’s teammates from his time with the Toronto Blue Jays made the guest list.
The couple has not yet commented publicly on the wedding, but several wives and girlfriends of Jays players in attendance posted on social media that the pair had tied the knot.
The spring 2025 engagement of Bichette and his now-wife, Alexis, was reported by the Star last July in an interview with Bichette about his future. This couple is famously private: He doesn’t use social media and her last name is not widely known, while her Instagram account, tagged by fellow Jays WAGs in wedding photos, is private. But their guests were happy to document the proceedings.
Taylor North Gausman, a photographer who is married to Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman, posted two images of herself and Gausman on Instagram, captioned: “loved celebrating mr. and mrs. bichette!!!”
Meanwhile, Chris Bassitt’s wife, Jessica, posted a photo with fellow WAGS on her Instagram Stories, writing: “Celebrating the Bichettes with some of my favourite people.”
Kara Bieber, Shane Bieber’s wife, posted an Instagram Story image that showed a group of familiar faces standing in front of a white plane in resortwear. Captioned “better together,” the group included Gausman, Bassitt, Max Scherzer, Jeff Hoffman and Ernie Clement, and their partners.
Here’s what else we know about these major league nuptials.
The wedding took place at a sunny location
Based on the social media posts, the Bichette wedding took place somewhere warm and sunny with tropical foliage. (So, definitely not Toronto.)
Bichette, 27, was born in Orlando, Florida, and a photo of a place setting and menu posted on fan sites and attributed to Stefanie Brejcha (Ernie Clement’s partner) features the logo of The Urban Stillhouse, a fine dining restaurant under two hours away in St. Petersburg. The menu includes filet with herbed bourbon butter, diver scallops and “smashed purple potatoes,” with bomboloni and wedding cake for dessert.
Photos posted to fan accounts show the bride in a white, strapless ballgown with a cathedral-length veil, and Bichette wearing a traditional black suit with a white boutonniere.
As to the entertainment, last summer, Bichette was asked about his upcoming wedding by sports reporter Lindsay Dunn — specifically, if the noted music lover planned to have a live band. Bichette replied, “I’ve heard something about a violinist. That’s all I know.”
Blue Jays players were out in force
The social media posts suggest a solid roster of Bichette’s Blue Jays teammates made the guestlist. Marissa Hoffman shared a picture of herself with Bieber, Bassitt, Erica Scherzer and Brejcha, celebratory glasses in hand. Pitcher Brendan Little hammed it up in photo booth shots with his wife, Emily. So too did Clair Fluharty, who is married to Mason Fluharty, along with Hoffman and the bride.
Soon after Bieber posted her plane group shot, both she and Brechja posted photos from St. Barths, suggesting the group flew on to the exclusive Caribbean island after the wedding.
One guest who confirmed his attendance ahead of time was Ernie Clement, on the Off The Roster podcast. “Somehow, I was lucky enough to get the invite. I’m honoured, truly, because him and his lady are just the best,” he said. When asked how he planned to celebrate at the event, Clements promised that he’d “rip up the dancefloor pretty good.”
The wedding comes amid speculation about Bichette’s future with the Blue Jays
Now that he’s signed up for one major commitment, the baseball world is speculating about whether Bichette will be signing another contract soon. A free agent after spending his entire professional career in Toronto, Bichette is said to be fielding interest from several MLB teams, including the Jays.
But presumably, that’s a question for after the honeymoon.
