A 30-year-old man from Brockville is facing a handful of charges after an extensive police search in the Maitland area led to an arrest on Thursday.
Alexander Ubdegrove was to have a Friday bail hearing in court at Brockville on charges of resisting a peace officer, flight from a police officer, operation of a vehicle while prohibited and taking a motor vehicle without consent, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a media release.
On Thursday afternoon, the release said, officers from the Leeds County and Grenville County detachments of the OPP went to a residence in Maitland for an unrelated matter when they observed a wanted individual running from the property.
Officers attempted to apprehend the man, but he fled the immediate area, leading to the search that included the OPP Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit, an OPP helicopter and use of a drone
At approximately 6 p.m., the release added, the individual was taken into custody near County Road 2 in Maitland. No injuries were reported, police said.
Maitland is about 100 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
