Environment Canada’s weather board is forecasting cold, snowy conditions for the next week in the capital.
The seasonal conditions kick in Friday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a 60-per-cent chance of flurries.
The temperature was in the mid-teens Friday morning, but the forecast is expected to tumble to -21 C by mid-afternoon.
The City of Ottawa has issued a warning that frigid Arctic air will be sweeping into the region Friday and Saturday.
“Dress warmly, in layers, covering any exposed skin before going outside and seek shelter indoors from the cold,” the city cautioned.

In a yellow warning, the Environment Canada weather office cautioned there’s risk of frostbite Friday afternoon and evening with “bitterly cold” temperatures dropping to as low as -27 C overnight, feeling like -35 to -40 with the wind.
Saturday’s looking sunny but windy, so far, with a high of -18 C forecast. The risk of frostbite continues with winds making the temperature feel like -38 in the morning and -28 in the afternoon. The overnight low is expected to be -29 C.
Cloudy skies are expected Sunday morning, with periods of snow expected Sunday night. The high is expected around -18 C, and the low -20 C.
More snow is in the outlook for Monday, with a high of -11C and a low of -21 C.
Tuesday’s looking like a mix of sun and cloud with a 40-per-cent chance of flurries. The high is expected to be -10C and the low -20 C.
