Canada Post has restored on-time service guarantees and resumed full-service levels for domestic parcels, the Canadian Crown Corporation said on Tuesday.

Canada Post noted that while it has stabilized operations and cleared the parcels in its network, the postal operator is still dealing with higher mail volumes.

Canada Post said on-time service guarantees have resumed for domestic parcels and are in effect for items inducted as of Jan. 6. Rural and remote areas have also returned to standard processing and delivery levels.

“We thank Canadians for their patience these past few weeks as we’ve worked to safely restore normal operations while managing significant holiday volumes,” a Canada Post spokesperson said.

The Crown Corporation acknowledged that it continues to process accumulated domestic transaction mail alongside the newly inducted volumes. As a result, Canadians should expect delivery delays of several days beyond Canada Post’s service standard for letters, bills and statements.

Business customers should also expect delivery delays of several days as neighbourhood mail must processed and delivered. Customers anticipating international items are also asked to be patient.

“We will continue to keep Canadians and businesses informed on how we are progressing.”

In November 2024, around 55,000 Canada Post employees, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), launched a nationwide strike. Their demands included wage increases to match inflation, enhanced job security, and improved working conditions, such as safer workplaces and adequate staffing for weekend deliveries.

Postal workers returned to their duties on Dec. 17, just before the holidays.
