Canada has defeated the United States 10-7 in a back-and-forth battle to win the bronze medal in women’s curling at the Winter Olympics.

With the Americans leading 3-2 through five ends, Canadian skip Rachel Homan took advantage of a missed shot to score three in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.

American skip Tabitha Peterson countered with a draw for two in the next end to even the match before Homan struck back with a draw for three in the eighth end to retake the lead.

Peterson used the hammer in the ninth end to score two to cut the deficit to one, but Homan closed out the game with two more in the final end on a missed U.S. takeout.

Homan, a three-time world champion, picks up her first Olympic medal and Canada’s first medal in women’s curling since 2014.
