KINGSEY FALLS – Cascades Inc. has signed a deal to sell its flexible packaging plant operations to Texas-based Five Star Holding for $31 million.
The company says it will keep ownership of the site real estate.
The facility in Mississauga, Ont., is Cascades’ only plant that manufactures printed flexible plastic packaging and films.
The flexible packaging operations employ 45 people, who will be retained by Five Star once the sale closes.
The deal includes a supply agreement to ensure the continued production and supply of the flexible film that is used by Cascades’ tissue and packaging business.
Cascades chief executive Hugues Simon says the sale will help the company reduce debt and grow its business.
