A 36-year-old woman from Beckwith Township has been charged following a child-abduction investigation by the Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.
A police news release on April 8 said OPP officers had begun the investigation a day earlier, when a man reported that his wife might be attempting to leave Canada with their six-year-old son.
Lanark County OPP, with assistance from the Lanark County Crime Unit, Peel Regional Police and Canada Border Services Agency, were able to locate the woman and child at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
The woman was arrested and returned to Lanark County, and the child was returned to the father.
The woman was to appear in court in Perth for a bail hearing on Tuesday. Her identity was not released to protect the identity of the victim, police said.
