Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union have ratified a tentative three-year  contract with the city, interim city solicitor Stuart Huxley said in a release Sunday.

ATU 279 represents about 2,300 bus operators, rail operators, mechanics, dispatchers, fare inspectors, and fleet and facilities maintenance staff.

The latest contract expired at the end of March.

Huxley said the next step will be to present the agreement to city council for its  ratification.

Huxley said he plans to bring the agreement for an in-camera session at council’s meeting of Sept. 24, along with an update on other collective bargaining matters.

Details of the tentative deal will remain confidential until presented for ratification, he said.
