Get ready to “come on down”: casting opens for Canada’s version of “The Price is Right,” filming in Toronto this December.
Fans of the iconic game show will get their chance to be part of the live audience — and maybe even compete — as “The Price is Right Tonight” tapes 12 episodes in Toronto from Dec. 12 to 17.
Though the Canadian version and its host, Toronto native and comedian Howie Mandel, were announced in June, casting for the show only opened recently, inviting groups of up to 10 people to apply. Each application requires at least four audience members, and all must be at least 19 years old and eligible to live and work in Canada.
The show’s 12 one-hour episodes will debut on Citytv in spring 2026.
First launched in 1956 then re-upped in 1972, “The Price is Right” is the longest-running game show in television history. Known for its interactive games, excited contestants and exuberant audiences, the show remains a daytime staple in the U.S., where it is currently hosted by Drew Carey.
“I’ve been a fan of ‘The Price is Right’ my entire life, so stepping into this iconic role is an absolute thrill,” Mandel said in a Rogers Communications statement announcing the show. ”I can’t wait to say ‘come on down!’ to a whole new generation of Canadian fans.”
Mandel, no stranger to game shows, hosted four primetime seasons and two syndicated seasons of “Deal or No Deal” and spent 15 years as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.” “The Price is Right Tonight” will be the latest addition to his extensive television career.
Long before his television success, Mandel’s first stage was closer to home: the open mic night at Yuk Yuk’s comedy club downtown, where he performed for the first time at age 23 after being dared by friends.
