On Feb. 5, TIFF Lightbox hosted a gala for the 24th edition of Canada’s Top Ten, presented by MUBI, honouring the best of the country’s films and filmmakers. It also kicked off a year of celebration leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Toronto International Film Festival in September. David Cronenberg, Evan and Galen Johnson, Sook-Yin Lee and Sophie Deraspe were among the filmmakers who attended. The evening also recognized the newly named Donald Shebib TIFF Film Circuit — the national film outreach program — and Miryam Charles received the inaugural Charles Officer Legacy Award.
